Mountains of Hope for Haiti serves at the invitation of the Methodist Church of Haiti and under the auspices and guidelines of the New York Conference of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM).

We welcome volunteers of all skills and capabilities to participate on a MHH UMVIM team. Youth must be 14 or have completed 9th grade to serve on a team. Part of the experience is living within, and among, the community.

As Furcy is a mountainous rural community, 6,000 feet above sea level, with no formal electricity or running water, it is recommended that all volunteers be in good physical condition. Several years ago we built a mission house to accommodate volunteer teams which provides same-gender bunk room accommodations, "buckets" showers, and communal meals. All meals are provided by local cooks trained in proper preparation techniques and volunteer teams will drink only treated water.

Mountains of Hope is looking to send another dental/medical team early in 2018. A schedule of upcoming teams will be posted.
